Art and Design

In Art, we aim to give all children the opportunity to explore and record God’s creation in a range of exciting and stimulating ways. We take the opportunity to celebrate each child’s individuality and creativity.

Art lessons enable children to use, understand and enjoy visual forms of communication.

We emphasise the importance of careful observation, which is the key to a true appreciation of line, form shape, pattern, tone and colour.  The skills of drawing, painting, sculpture and other artistic techniques are taught at appropriate stages, and children use a variety of tools and materials.

Children are encouraged to enjoy their work and to develop critical awareness through constructive consideration of their own and other artists' work.

Children are encouraged to improve their mastery of art and design as they progress through school and are exposed to a range of artists, architects and designers to learn from and support their work.

We run a hugely popular art club for children. The art club has taken on many commissioned pieces which remain on display throughout the school.
