Meet the Governors

CLARE JONES is the Co-Chair of the Governing Body and was elected as a Parent Governors in December 2018 and was appointed a Foundation Governor in October 2022. Clare brings experience in auditing, compliance and quality standards to the Governing Body and is assisting with implementing a Marketing Strategy for the school.

SEAN McALINDEN became a Foundation Governor in 2019 and became Co Chair of the Governing Body in 2022. He has two children currently at the school. Sean is an Assistant Head teacher at a local secondary school, bringing experience of data tracking and analysis to the Curriculum & Achievement Committee and knowledge of a working educational establishment to the Resources Committee.

SUSAN SPARKES became a Foundation Governor in 2019 and Vice Chair in 2022. She works freelance and has a background in marketing and she felt she could easily work with the school to make it more visible to potential families. Susan also has a background in fundraising; the voluntary contributions parents make to the school are absolutely essential to the school being able to provide a wide range of enrichment activities for the children as well as some elements of facilities upkeep and is now part of the Governors Marketing Working Party. |
CARMEL MORELAND was appointed as Head teacher to St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in September 2005. Prior to headship, she served for sixteen years in a Catholic Primary School in Hammersmith and Fulham. Mrs Moreland spent time as co-ordinator for RE, Planning and Assessment, IT as well as being a Lead Maths Teacher for the LA. She has also worked with the Graduate Training Programme and at St Mary’s University as a Visiting Lecturer. She feels it is a huge privilege to be part of the St Edmund’s community and can't imagine that she has been here for over 15 years already! |

FEARGHAL NASH is the elected Teacher Governor and became Deputy Headteacher in 2022. He has worked at St Edmund’s since 2009. He is RE Coordinator and member of the Senior Leadership Team. In his role as Teacher Governor he is able to contribute a professional perspective to the educational issues of concern to the governing body.

MARK BROWN became the Governor Designated Safeguarding Lead in 2022. He is a local parishioner at St Edmunds and has two young sons. Mark studied at St Mary's University and has over 20 years experience teaching in Catholic Education. He is currently Sixth Form Inclusion Coordinator in a large catholic school and has vast experience supporting the emotional development, welfare and academic progress of students cross Key Stages 3-5.

AIMEE MONTEITH joined the Governing Body in February 2023 as a Parent Governor. She runs her own business, a marketing consultancy which works solely within the education sector and over the last 10 years has worked with over 400 schools across England. This has afforded her experience in many areas of school life including, budget and strategic planning, student and staff recruitment, ensuring schools are able to work towards their visions and are able to position themselves with what makes them unique within their own environments. Aimee is an ex St Edmund's pupil and has one child at the school. She was also Chair of the Parents Association for many years, supporting the school with its fundraising and community efforts. |

CARL PANDOLE was appointed as a Foundation Governor in 2021 and in 2022 became governor responsible for Inclusion/SEND. He has two children currently at the school. Carl is an in-house legal and business affairs manager for a leading television production company, advising on a range of commercial and compliance matters. Carl is also a Trustee for HCPT, a Catholic charity for children and adults with special needs.

JANINE LANGMEAD joined the Governing Body in September 2021 as a Parent Governor. She currently has two children who attend the school. For the last 19 years Janine has worked for a multinational consumer goods company and has a strong background in Account Management, Marketing and Product Supply. She has strong personal skills and is highly motivated to help deliver the goals of St Edmund’s School.

GODFREY NUNES was elected as an Associate Member in February 2022, and appointed as Foundation Governor in September 2022. He is married and has two children, a son who works for Amazon and a daughter who is studying Geography at Durham University. Godfrey retired from BT in 2019 having worked as a Senior Manager in BT’s Products, Corporate Strategy, Public Policy and Smart Cities Directorates.

CRISTINA FERNANDEZ joined the Governing Body in February 2023 as a Parent Governor. Cristina has one child currently at St Edmund’s School. She manages a Sales and Customer Service team, including recruitment and training, and has worked in Airfreight and Logistics for the last 18 years. With a University Degree in Primary Education, she is very motivated to work and help in all areas but especially curriculum, achievement, resources and general wellbeing of the children while in school, to help make their journey as smooth as possible.
