Meet the Governors

 

 

DEB LONG is the Chair of the Governing Body at St Edmund’s.  She has four children, all of whom attended St Edmund’s.  Deb’s connection with the school goes back a long way as she was a pupil at St Edmund’s in the 1970’s. Deb has been a Foundation Governor at St Edmund’s since September 2010 and thoroughly enjoys the challenges the role offers.  Deb is the link governor for literacy and is on most of the committees of the Governing Body.

 

CLARE JONES is the Co Chair of the Governing Body and was elected as a Parent Governors in December 2018 and has two children in the school.  Clare brings experience in auditing, compliance and quality standards to the Governing Body and is assisting with implementing a Marketing Strategy for the school.

HAZEL TAYLOR is the Vice Chair of Governors at St Edmund’s School.  Hazel was elected by the parent body and has been serving as a governor for the past few years.  Hazel has three children, who also attended the school. Hazel is passionate about school improvement and has been an active member and supporter of the Parents Association.  Hazel is the named Governor for our Pupil Premium and SEND children and helps to ensure that they are supported appropriately.

 

FATHER NIGEL GRIFFIN is the Parish Priest at St Edmund’s.  He is a Foundation Governor at St Edmund’s as well as at St Richard Reynold’s Catholic College. Father Nigel plays an active part in the life of the school supporting the children celebrating a range of liturgies throughout the year. Father Nigel is a former hospital chaplain having served the Hammersmith Hospital Trust.

CARMEL MORELAND was appointed as Headteacher to St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in September 2005.  Prior to headship, she served for sixteen years in a Catholic Primary School in Hammersmith and Fulham.  Mrs Moreland spent time as co-ordinator for RE, Planning and Assessment, IT as well as being a Lead Maths Teacher for the LA.  She has also worked with the Graduate Training Programme and at St Mary’s University as a Visiting Lecturer.  She feels it is a huge privilege to be part of the St Edmund’s community.

DOMINI BINGHAM’S background is in marketing and public relations both in the public and private sectors and in international development. A qualified teacher, Domini is passionate about adults achieving their potential and addressing obstacles to achieving that. She has an MA in Lifelong Learning and a PhD from the Institute of Education.  Domini is an Academic Tutor and researcher at the Institute.

 

SEAN CAREY is a parishioner at St Edmund’s and as a Communion and Confirmation Catechist has worked with and knows many of our children.  Sean has supported the school over many years with his contributions to various PA events.  Sean has served on other school governing bodies and understands the role well, he has specific interests in the academic achievement and progress made by the children.  Sean acts as a consultant for ITV. 

 

GUY ELLIOTT joined the governing body (February 2018) as the LA representative. For the past 22 years he has worked for a Printing Press manufacturer, in Brentford and now holds the position of Customer Service Marketing and Contracts Manager. He aims to bring his  experience from this field into whatever capacity is required for St Edmunds. Guy has three children, who are all now in the secondary phase of their education. Guy is currently serving on the Site and Resources committees.

 

LOUIS HARRISON was elected to stand as a Parent Governor in December 2018.  He has four children, spanning from pre-school to secondary school age. Louis works as a Project Manager for a large construction company and has bought his skills in planning, logistics and budgeting to the Governing Body.  

BRENDA GREEN was appointed Deputy Headteacher at St Edmund’s in September 2017 having previously worked for 12 years at a local Catholic Primary School. Prior to teaching, Brenda worked in the computer industry in training, service and business planning roles.  She is an associate Governor with responsibility for Computing. Brenda also serves on the Curriculum and Achievement, Resources and Admission Committees. 

 

BOB KING arrived in the Borough as a student from Richmond, Yorkshire. Mr King is a retired primary school teacher.  He was Mayor of the Borough during 1995-96.  He has been an active parishioner of St. Edmund’s Church since 1966. He has been a governor of St. Edmund’s School in various guises, since 1985.  Currently Bob is an Associate Governor.    Bob also served as governor of St. Mary’s University College.  Upon completing his term of office there, he was awarded an honorary Master’s degree for his services.

 

CHRISTINA LINGEMAN is one of our elected parent governors.  Christina is particularly interested in promoting health and active lifestyles. As such she is the named Governor for PE & Sports. Christina’s work background is in Audit, Risk, Policy and Governance within the public sector. Christina currently sits on the Achievement and Community Committees

 

FEARGHAL NASH is the elected Teacher Governor.  He has worked at St Edmund’s since 2009.  He is the LKS2 Lead and RE Coordinator and member of the Senior Leadership Team.  In his role as Teacher Governor he is able to contribute a professional perspective to the educational issues of concern to the governing body.

 

SEAN MCALINDEN became a Foundation Governor in 2019 and has two children currently at the school. Sean is an Assistant Headteacher at a local secondary school, bringing experience of data tracking and analysis to the Curriculum & Achievement Committee and knowledge of a working educational establishment to the Resources Committee.

 

SUSAN SPARKES became a Foundation Governor in 2019.  Her sons went to St Edmund’s school when they were little - they are in their 20’s now.  She works freelance and has a background in marketing and she felt she could easily work with the school to make it more visible to potential families. Susan also has a background in fundraising; the voluntary contributions parents make to the school are absolutely essential to the school being able to provide a wide range of enrichment activities for the children as well as some elements of facilities upkeep and is now part of the Governors Marketing Working Party.
