St Edmund’s School Day

The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm.    Registration is at 8.55am.

We have a variety of clubs on offer that are regularly updated.  The list can be found at the bottom of this page with details of how to join. Any problems please contact the school office.

Morning Playtimes

We operate a staggered break time.  Infants have their break at 10.15am and the juniors have their break at 10.40am.  Break lasts 20 minutes.  The children have the chance to stretch their legs, have a run around and catch up with their friends.  The buddies ensure there are playground games for the children to access and play with.  After break the children share a snack together and some quiet time before their next lesson.

Lunch

Children in Reception have their lunch at 11.45am and their break ends at 12.45pm.  They have a story before the afternoon session which begins at 1.00pm.

Y1, 2, 3 & 4 have their lunch from 12.00 - 1.00pm

Y5 & 6 have their from 12.10 - 1.10pm

We have a lunchtime HUB for any children who may need additional support.

Afternoon Playtimes

Y1 and Y2 have a 10 minute afternoon play.

R and N have learning time which incorporates learning through play.

Throughout the day all children will take part in the daily mile – 15 minute walking break.

Drop-off and Collection Times

At the beginning of the school day, parents are asked to drop their children off at the school gates where they will be greeted by different members of the school staff.  Children then walk straight to their classrooms where their teachers are waiting for them.  Should you need to give a quick message to a member of staff regarding your child, you can email or pop into the school office where they will be more than happy to pass it on to your child's class teacher.

At the end of the school day children are collected from their classrooms.

Getting to and from school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. If you do need to travel by car, please use the library car park and walk to school. Free passes for the car park may be obtained from the school office. Thank you as ever for your continued support of your children and our lovely school.
