  • Advent Activities for families: We often put our nativity cribs up just before Christmas. A family advent task invites you to set up your crib now, making it a special part of your family's preparation for Christmas. Setting up your Christmas crib is a wonderful activity you can do together: 1) Place your nativity crib somewhere central, somewhere you can stop and have a moment of daily prayer. 2) Talk to your children about the journey Mary and Joseph took to Bethlehem. Place your crib characters in different positions around your home, moving them closer to the stable each day. 3) You might have an empty manger? Give each member of your family a piece of straw (real or improvised) for every kind action they undertake in the coming weeks, this will make a soft place for the baby Jesus, mirroring the place your heart is preparing. Once again we would love to see your family cribs, please send pictures to office@st-edmunds.richmond.sch.uk and we will publish them for all to see. We have been busy building our nativity scene at the front of our school - check out our page next week for updates.

  • This term Year 2 have been busy learning all about The Gunpowder Plot. On November 12, we celebrated Guy Fawkes day by creating fireworks in a jar. We added some food colouring to oil and then poured it into the water. The oil settled on top of the water (because oil is lighter than water) and then the food colouring started to drop into the water creating the illusion of fireworks. We also created some firework pictures using wax crayons on black paper. For the past few weeks we have been busy learning a dance with Smurf about Guy Fawkes Day. We created firework movements, a dance to a poem and ended the movement with an amazing song about fireworks.
