Wednesday 18 February 2026 Class 2R Assembly What a fabulous assembly presented by Class 2R. The parents were all really proud of the children. Feedback from one of the parents captured what everyone was thinking.

Monday 16 February 2026 Equalities Project Mrs Moreland met with a small team of parents to discuss how we can ensure all our children are being given opportunities to see themselves represented in our curriculum and at school. We discussed specific opportunities and activities around events planned throughout the year as well as targeted and incidental opportunities. We talked about ideas around how to ensure members of our community who come from different cultural backgrounds can be welcomed and feel more involved. We want to break down barriers and make sure all families feel confident in belonging to our wider school family. Our next meeting will be in Friday 20 March at 2pm. If any other parents would like to join our group to share ideas we would be very happy for you to come along and join us. One of our first tasks is to invite parents from a range of cultural backgrounds to come and share a story or traditional tale from their country with the children. If you are able to do this please let your child's class teacher

Thursday 12 February 2026 Girls Football Our girls football team were invited to compete against the best schools in the local boroughs. The winning team gained entry in to the National Finals and we came home champions!

Tuesday 10 February 2026 Sporting News Team GB Athlete Visit ActivKids UK are coming to visit our school. They are organising a sponsored fitness circuit for all the children to take part in as we want to encourage them to be more active and inspire them to work hard to achieve anything they set their minds on. A professional athlete will come and oversee the event and will talk and share their story with the school. The fundraising will help to pay 40% towards the training for unsponsored athletes as well as providing 60% of funds raised back to the school. Information leaflets should come home with your child today so please take time to read it through.

Monday 2 February 2026 Reception Candlemas Last Monday our Reception Classes led a special service to celebrate the feast called Candlemas. This is when Mary and Joseph brought their new born infant to the temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord and were greeted by the two elders Simeon and Anna. We celebrated Jesus' birth at Christmas exactly 40 days ago and we remember that He is the Light of the World. We can be more like Jesus by shining our light.

Friday 12 December 2025 St Edmund's Lights Up Whitton Mrs Hambling and Mrs Moreland were incredibly proud of the choir, for leading the community in song at the start the ‘Light Up Whitton' celebrations. Mr J invited Nelson School Choir to come and join us and together the children sang some popular carols to get everyone in the Christmas mood! It certainly worked!

Thursday 11 December 2025 Santa is on his way to St Edmund's Thank you to Santa who has found some time to leave the elves busy working in Lapland to come and visit the children at St Edmund's next week.

Thursday 11 December 2025 Advent Service at Westminster Cathedral Last Wednesday, the school council travelled to Westminster Cathedral to represent the school at the Catholic Children's Society Christmas Advent Concert. The children especially enjoyed the entertaining telling of the nativity and the wonderful singing of the carols by the choirs especially O Holy Night. We were very shocked to see real donkeys and sheep walking down the aisle of the Cathedral. It was a wonderful festive adventure.

Friday 28 November 2025 St Edmund's Feast Day November 16th is the Feast of our patron saint – St Edmund of Canterbury. Due to building works in the church, Class 6T will lead the Feast Day Mass for the school on Friday 21st November. This Mass is always a lovely celebration of our patron and helps us to reflect on his life and how we should try to be more like him.
